My name is Kati and I am 37.
I live in the beautiful ancient city of Sofia – it’s the capital of Bulgaria, Europe.
The first sights of people settlements here date from the neolit period.
The reason for the early settlements and human population of the area are the mineral springs curing many illnesses – and providing pure drinking water. The earlier known city name is Serdika.
A wonderful place to grow up in!
I graduated as MS in chemistry (physical chemistry and theoretical chemistry) and started to work in the Bulgarian Academy of Science, doing Monte Carlo computer simulations. I got married (quite late in life) and have 3.5 years old son
I write – short novels, stories and (rhyme-less) poetry (but I can’t translate it in English).
And all this time, from very early childhood, I knit, crochet and make things with yarn in various techniques.
I also love wood and like to use it for different projects – and so does my husband – and we make our own tools for some purposes, like Handmade Wooden Adjustable Hairpin LaceTool for Crochet www.etsy.com/listing/66759301/handmade-wooden-adjustable-hairpin
Unfortunately my job at the BAS is more interesting than payable and I do need some other income. So I decided to see if I could bring my hobbies to the next level and opened my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/Avramova?ref=si_shop
I make unique clothing and stuffed toys – children’s best friend. We make tools of our own design and make each item by hand, with much love and care.
I am actually allergic to wool (along with other things) so I am always very careful with the materials I use – or suggest to other people.
Here, In Bulgaria, we have four distinct seasons, so I made different clothing for all of them. We have beautiful summer sunny beaches along with snowy winter mountain slopes and they all demand different clothing.
Thanks for starting this wonderful initiative for presenting Europe!
